Arslantepe Mound

Arslantepe Mound is one of Malatya's most important archaeological sites and is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

This ancient settlement, dating back to 5000 BC, is one of the oldest city centers in Anatolia. Excavations at the mound have uncovered one of the world's oldest palaces and the first sword examples.

Arslantepe takes its name from the lion statues found at the entrance to the mound. Excavations conducted by Italian archaeologists since the 1960s continue to bring to light the region's rich history.

This site is critical for understanding the development of human history and Anatolian civilization.
